mBlox brings over 70 high tech jobs to Sandy Springs
Commits to 16,000 SF at 500 Northpark
ATLANTA, GA - December 18, 2013. mBlox, a Silicon Valley SMS messaging company, is moving much of its operations to Atlanta. After an exhaustive study of the most beneficial cities in which to operate a high tech company mBlox chose Atlanta. Key was its cost of living, its pool of technically skill employees, its public transportion and quality of life. Georgia's statutory economic incentives were also viewed very favorably. The company will hire over 70 locals in primarily high tech positions. Some will will work in the company's Network Operations Center, which provides worldwide support 24/7 to its customers.
Ed Bosbyshell was chosen to spearhead mBlox Atlanta search for its new offices. The company wanted to cast a wide net and looked at opportunities in Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Buckhead and Midtown. Of particular interest was buildings located in opportunity zones. An initial survey was put together by Mr. Bosbyshell and a small team visited these opportunities throughout Atlanta and a narrowing process began. RFP's were sent to those properties which had made the short list as well as test fits performed. The team stayed in contact with the Georgia Department of Economic Development as the statutory benefits of different locals varied. As the process proceeded the Northpark office project at Abernathy Road and GA400 began to emerge as the most desirable. It was a large complex providing ample room to grow. It featured a wide array of on-site retail amenities and the roofs of the parking decks had been designed as open air plazas. The 500 building featured a direct underground access to MARTA. The space proposed by the landlord was on the 12th floor of the building with views in virutally all directions.
As the deal came together there was negotiations on deal terms, temporary space for the management team while the primary space was under construction, as well as training space needed for the many new staff who would be brought on board. In total the engagement took nearly six months. The company is scheduled to do a complete move-in around the 1st of March 2014.
